Townships
Forward Township is a municipality known as a "Second Class Township".
Following are the four types of municipalities in Pennsylvania: County, City, Borough, and Townships.
There are two types of Townships in Pennsylvania. Townships are either "First Class Townships" or "Second Class Townships", depending on their population per square mile. Of those two, Second Class Townships have the smaller population per square mile.
First Class Townships are governed by "Commissioners". Second Class Townships are governed by "Supervisors". Forward Township, like most Second Class Townships, has three "Supervisors".
